WHITE Personal Defence Readiness (PDR)

I have been practising a wide variety of martial arts for over 40 years, from traditional karate styles to progressive Jeet Kune Do and Mixed Martial Arts. Although initially inspired by Brian Jacks, Bruce Lee and Tom Hanks (random I know, feel free to ask me if you are interested!), I soon became focused on what would keep me safe and what could I actually apply in a sudden violent encounter.

Better still, how could I avoid these altogether? My eyes were opened after joining the Tactical Research and Development Group under the instruction of Mo Teague. His focus, and that of the group, is to research what must be the guiding truth when it comes to real violence. It did not take long before Tony Blauer’s SPEAR System® came up time and time again.

I watched all the videos I could and sought out other SPEAR instructors and everything I heard made sense. After saving up for the course, in September 2023 I became certified as a Personal Defence Readiness (PDR) Instructor under the SPEAR System® – Simon White.

What is the Blauer SPEAR System®?

SPEAR stands for Spontaneous Protection Enabling Accelerated Response

"Your ability to protect yourself or a loved one is inarguably the single most important skill you can possess." - Coach Tony Blauer

Coach Blauer’s focus, his mission and path, has not wavered since he began teaching real-world self-defence in 1979. He has been on the cutting edge of reality-based training for the self-defence world ever since. His goal has always been to make the world safer - starting with you.

We are proud to be an authorised affiliate of the Blauer SPEAR System®.

The ability to protect yourself or a loved one is the single greatest skill you could possess, along with emergency life-saving skills.

What if learning how to protect yourself was much easier than you thought? That was the inspiration Coach Blauer had over thirty years ago. He noticed that no one really used technical martial arts in real confrontations.

When you train with us you will learn:

  • How to reconnect with your intuition and instincts.
  • How to recognise a fear spike, how to listen to its signals and most importantly, how to manage fear.
  • Simple, functional movements based on how real people move

Training in the SPEAR System® will teach anyone:

  • How to reconnect to the human weapon system.
  • That 80% of confrontations could have been avoided.
  • The Three D’s: How to detect danger, how to defuse and de-escalate and, if push comes to shove, to defend.
  • A simple and practical system that’s congruent with your emotional psychological state during a confrontation.

The SPEAR System® can be used by anyone looking for a simple and effective system of self-protection.

The Blauer SPEAR System’s® approach to self-defence will reawaken your situational awareness and teach you a patented approach to identifying and managing fear; the program includes an effective verbal de-escalation system and the rawest and most direct approach to personal defence using natural biomechanics.

Blauer Tactical System research on the startle/flinch phenomena and its link to the survival system’s withdrawal reflex has spawned one of the most important evolutions in close-quarter training: the SPEAR System®, which utilises the speed and reliability of the startle/flinch mechanism to convert the sudden attack into a tactical counter.

The SPEAR System® is considered the world’s first and only behaviourally-based close self-defence system. It is based on science, psychology, and human biomechanics. It uses hard-wired reflexes to enhance personal defence by improving anyone’s ability to detect, intercept, and defend a sudden close-quarter ambush.

The SPEAR System® is not a martial art nor does it replace other martial art systems. SPEAR is the study of human movement as it relates to violence, fear and aggression.
